Price transparency

At Heys Scientific, we are committed to a transparent pricing policy that underscores our belief in simplicity, honesty, and fairness. We understand that in an era of hidden fees and complicated pricing models, clarity is essential. Our transparent pricing approach ensures that you, our customers, always know what you're paying for and why it's worth it. Here’s why we’ve chosen this path, and how it benefits both you and our business.

1. Building Trust with Our Customers

When you purchase from us, we want you to know exactly what you're paying for. There are no hidden costs or surprise markups, only clear, transparent prices. We believe that transparency fosters trust—and we know that when you trust us, you're more likely to return for future purchases. With Heys Scientific, you’re not just buying a product; you’re investing in a relationship built on honesty.

2. Avoiding Fancy Offices and Unnecessary Overheads

We don’t believe in spending money on extravagant offices or corporate luxuries. Instead, we focus on what really matters: the craftsmanship and innovation behind our products. This means we have lower overheads, and those savings are passed directly to you. We don’t think you should have to pay for an expensive corporate façade. What you pay for is a premium product built with purpose and precision.

3. Eliminating Wasteful Packaging

Many brands spend heavily on fancy packaging that often ends up being wasteful. At Heys Scientific, we prioritize functionality and sustainability in our packaging. We avoid unnecessary embellishments and excessive packaging costs so that we can focus on delivering value to you, the customer. Our simple, efficient packaging reduces waste, allowing us to keep costs down and pass those savings onto you.

4. Fair Tax Practices

We believe in being a responsible business, which means paying our fair share of taxes. We don’t exploit tax loopholes to minimize our contributions. We believe in ethical business practices, and we contribute fairly to the communities that support us. This means a more equitable and sustainable business model for everyone.

5. Fair Wages for Our Employees

At Heys Scientific, we believe in treating our employees fairly. We are committed to offering **fair wages** and a supportive work environment for everyone who contributes to our business. We understand that our success is only possible because of the hard work of our talented team, and we ensure that they are compensated appropriately for their efforts. A happy, motivated workforce leads to better products and services for you, our customers.

6. Fair Dealings with Our Suppliers

Our suppliers are integral to the success of our products, and we believe in treating them with the same respect and fairness we show to our employees. We strive for honest, fair dealings and maintain long-term relationships based on mutual respect and shared goals. This ensures that both our suppliers and we are working toward the same objective: creating high-quality products that benefit everyone involved.

7. The True Cost of Excellence

Our transparent pricing reflects the real cost of quality. We focus on premium materials, ethical manufacturing, and skilled craftsmanship. You’re paying for the value we provide, not for inflated markups or unnecessary frills. This means you can be sure that when you purchase from us, you're getting the best product possible for a fair and reasonable price.

8. Empowering Customers to Make Informed Decisions

By offering transparent pricing, we allow customers to make informed purchasing decisions. You can compare our prices with other brands, knowing exactly what you’re paying for. It’s all about empowering you to choose based on value and quality, rather than being swayed by hidden fees or misleading pricing strategies.

---

In Conclusion: Why We Stand by Transparent Pricing

At Hey’s Scientific, our transparent pricing reflects the values that define us: honesty, integrity, and sustainability. We don’t waste money on flashy offices, extravagant packaging, or tax loopholes. Instead, we focus on delivering the best quality products at a fair price—every time.

This approach not only benefits our customers, but it also helps build a stronger, more ethical business. We are committed to fair wages for our employees, responsible dealings with suppliers, and the highest standards of product quality.

At Hey’s Scientific, we believe in a simple philosophy: "Be nice people to do business with." Our transparent pricing is just one of the many ways we ensure that we’re living up to that ideal.

CSR Policy

At Heys Scientific, we are committed to making a positive impact on the environment and society while maintaining transparency and integrity in our business practices. This CSR policy outlines our core commitments:

  1. Environmental Responsibility

We strive to minimize our environmental footprint by implementing sustainable practices throughout our supply chain. This includes using recyclable materials, reducing waste, and optimizing energy usage in our operations.
We actively seek to improve the sustainability of our products and packaging, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a circular economy.

  2. Transparency

We believe in open communication with our customers and stakeholders. We will provide clear, honest information about our business practices, product sourcing, and environmental impact.
Our commitment to transparency extends to our approach in supporting the Right to Repair, empowering consumers to repair and extend the life of their products.

  3. Philanthropy

We are dedicated to giving back to the community, particularly in areas that align with our values. We support initiatives focused on mental health and homelessness, partnering with local and international organizations to make a tangible difference.

  4. Our Mission

Inspired by the words of our cofounder, Oliver Pennington, our mission is simple: "Be nice people to do business with." This statement guides all our decisions, ensuring that we operate with kindness, respect, and a commitment to creating a positive impact.

Through this policy, we aim to build a business that prioritizes people, the planet, and shared prosperity. We are committed to continuously improving our efforts and being held accountable to our customers and stakeholders.

crowdfunding

In recent years, crowdfunding has become a popular method for startups and creators to launch their products. Platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo offer a way to gauge market interest and raise funds before production even begins. While it has proven successful for many, Hey’s Scientific has chosen a different path, avoiding crowdfunding to launch our products. Here’s why:

1. Commitment to Quality Control

Crowdfunding projects often face pressure to meet deadlines and fulfill backer orders quickly, which can lead to compromised quality. At Hey’s Scientific, we are dedicated to precision craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. We prefer to launch products when we are 100% confident in their performance, without the constraints of external deadlines. This approach allows us to focus on quality, not speed.

2. Testing and Iteration Over Hype

Many crowdfunding campaigns rely on generating excitement and hype before the product is fully developed or tested. We believe in thorough research, development, and testing before bringing a product to market. By avoiding crowdfunding, we take the time needed to iterate and refine our designs, ensuring our customers receive the best possible product.

3. Transparency and Trust

Crowdfunding campaigns can sometimes overpromise and underdeliver, leaving backers disappointed. We value transparency with our customers and prefer to sell only what we have fully developed and manufactured. By launching through our own channels, we can offer clear communication, realistic timelines, and full transparency, building trust from the start.

4. Financial Independence

Crowdfunding campaigns are often used to secure funding for production. However, this can come with the risk of delays or financial mismanagement if the funds are not sufficient. Hey’s Scientific operates with financial independence, allowing us to invest in our products without relying on pre-sales. This ensures a stable and reliable production process, minimizing risks for our customers.

5. A Focus on Long-Term Relationships

Crowdfunding tends to emphasize one-time transactions with backers rather than building long-term relationships with customers. Our approach is to foster ongoing connections with our community, offering a consistent and reliable experience across all product launches. This aligns with our mission, created by cofounder Oliver Pennington:

Be nice people to do business with.

The Hey’s Scientific Way

Instead of crowdfunding, we focus on building a strong foundation of trust, quality, and transparency. By bypassing crowdfunding, we maintain full control over our product development timeline, quality assurance, and customer experience. It’s a choice that reflects our commitment to delivering innovative, precision-engineered products without compromise.

Intelectual Property

At Hey’s Scientific, we value innovation, creativity, and the importance of protecting intellectual property. This policy outlines our approach to IPR, covering software, hardware, design, copyright, and fair licensing practices.

1. Open Source Software & Share Attribution

We believe in the power of open source and share software contributions under appropriate licenses that promote community collaboration and innovation.

Any open-source software used in our products will be disclosed, and we will provide proper attribution as required. We commit to using software under licenses that allow modification and sharing, while also respecting the rights of original creators.

Our open-source contributions will be shared with the community with clear guidelines for both commercial and non-profit use, following share-alike with attribution principles.

2. Hardware Patents & Design Rights

We are committed to protecting our unique hardware innovations through patents. This includes mechanisms, mechanical designs, and innovations that distinguish our products.

Our design rights protect the visual appearance, shape, and unique features of our products. We actively enforce these rights to safeguard our brand and prevent unauthorized replication.

Copyright protection extends to our product designs, marketing materials, manuals, and any proprietary content we create.

3. Trademarks

Our brand identity, including logos, product names, and slogans, is protected under trademark law. These trademarks are integral to our brand reputation and help consumers identify genuine Hey’s Scientific products.

Unauthorized use of our trademarks, including imitations, is prohibited. We take necessary action to protect our brand and ensure that our customers receive authentic products.

4. Fair Licensing Agreements

We believe in fair and transparent licensing agreements with both licensees and licensors. This approach ensures that our products, ideas, and designs are used responsibly and that all parties benefit fairly.

Our licensing terms clearly outline the scope of use, attribution requirements, and any restrictions, ensuring that intellectual property is respected while enabling innovation and collaboration.

Commitment to Innovation and Fair Use

We recognize that protecting intellectual property is essential to fostering innovation. At the same time, we are dedicated to contributing to the broader community through responsible use of open-source software and fair licensing practices. By balancing protection with openness, we aim to drive progress and creativity in our industry.

This policy reflects our commitment to honouring the rights of creators while enabling a fair and innovative environment for all stakeholders.
